Trichillea
emitica "Natal Mahogany"
Dark green compound leaves with broad glossy leaflets,
together reaching 70cm (2.5 feet) in length. The
rounded crown sits on a staight wide trunk which
can reach 30m (98 feet). Creamy white flowers in
summer give rise to distinctive velvety capsules
which split to reveal attractive black seeds at
the end of summer. This tree is frost sensitive
and should not be planted outdoors in these zones.
it is versitile when it comes to light requirements;
as it can be planted outdoors in full sun (with
sufficient water of coarse), as well as indoors
in full shade- makes a good potted tree.
