Dietes

Drought and wind resistant, these are tough plants that will grow in full sun or in semi-shade, and in poor soils, but does best with generous summer watering.

 

Dietes bicolour "Peacock Flower"

Erect sword-like leaves 75cm (2.5 feet), emerge from rhizomes under the ground. Yellow flowers in late spring with 3 blackish dabs.

Dietes grandiflora "Wild Iris"

Large leaves to 1m ( 3 feet), similar to D. bicolour. Flowers are 10cm (3-4 inches) across, white with golden centres and the second stet of inner petals are mauve.


Dietes iridioides

Same flowers as D. grandiflora, but smaller, and lasts longer.
